100 million suckers
Zuckerberg's Threads apparently collects a *lot* of information about the user from their phone.

That didn't seem to deter anyone, though. The app has 100m users in only a week's time. That's a lot of curious people. But it doesn't look like sustained interest. Daily user count is apparently down 20%, and time spent per user is down 50% from the initial highs. Some people said Threads is more of a propaganda platform than a communications platform. There is no way to search for topics. Your feed is not completely under your control - it is a mixture of posts from the people you follow, and other posts that Meta deems popular. This guarantees elite posts are spread far and wide. You will quickly get tired of this if you don't care much about the elites' take on things. May be Zuck thought Twitter-hating leftists would like this feature better. It is also a good way to keep the Dem voters in line for the '24 election. A steady dose of preachings from famous people is exactly what is needed.
Just like we pass bills in congress to find out what's in them, you have to install Threads on your phone (and give away all of your information to Zuck for free) before you can find out that it sucks. Apps destroyed open web. If you use a browser, data thieves like Zuck are thwarted to a great extent. If you go on facebook and bare your soul, then of course, Zuck gets all of it. But, if not, he is limited. If you use an app, you have no idea what it is doing all the time, and what information of yours it is sending to whom. Apps enable app owners to screw app users.
Apps also allow app store owners (Apple and Google) to screw app owners and app users. If the app doesn't "moderate" "misinformation" like the leftist goons would like it to, then Apple and Google can kick it off app stores. The app owner has no option but to comply with their demands to get back in. Stopping people from visiting a specific web site with their browser, on the other hand, takes a lot more work, and involves other parties. And I think people can also bypass the web site ban by going through a proxy situated elsewhere, where the web site is not banned.
In any case, Zuck seems to be moderating things pretty severely on all his platforms including the new one. Washington Posts' Taylor Lorenz - the "journalist" that cried on TV about online harassment - seems to be censored heavily on instagram. She is apparently close to losing her account! LOL!
Is Taylor Lorenz actually crying about being censored on Instagram?

Welcome to the club, Taylor. pic.twitter.com/81ZyNu1NX2
Shockingly — Taylor Lorenz calls out Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri for suggesting that discussing news and politics would be discouraged or result in content being downranked on Threads. pic.twitter.com/3wUnE1Wnx4
