Smear was always the goal
Jack Smith apparently released a report on his findings in the January 6 case. In it, he seems to have sort of admitted the J6 events do not really amount to insurrection. Of course they didn't. We didn't need Jack Smith to tell us that, but the leftist media hacks calling Trump an insurrectionist all this time received a setback now. It may not matter, though. Most of them will go on as if Jack Smith's report doesn't exist. This is what they did after Mueller reported on his 'probe', and delivered the disappointing news to the libs. They kept claiming Trump colluded with Russia. They seem to think their viewers are as dishonest as they are! Giving the leftists a chance to smear Trump is a bigger goal for the lawsuit than anything else.
It's the same deal with the 'felon' label. Joy Behar said the quiet part aloud while she was castigating Carrie Underwood the other day for agreeing to perform at Trump's inauguration. Behar called Trump a convicted felon, and claimed she can call him that everyday now.
Behar feels that you shouldn't 'normalize' a convicted felon if you love the country. She showed the Dems' strategy in action: manufacture bogus claims against Trump, say he is abnormal and uniquely terrible, and hope that it hurts him. The strategy has actually worked against the Dems, though. When a number of lawsuits all started around the same time against Trump (shortly after he announced he is running for a second term), it looked suspicious to people. It was downhill from then on. The more the people learned about these cases, the clearer it became to them that Dems are deliberately targeting Trump with lawfare. So, most of them completely ignored Dems' claims, and voted for Trump. The whole country moved redward. Cackler failed to flip a single county blue. There is a lesson in here somewhere for the libs, but they refuse to learn it.
